About Us
The principals: Kevin Keefe and Terry Hines
Kevin Keefe is owner and president of the Granite Brewery in Halifax and
he also controls 50% of The Granite Brewery in Toronto. Kevin has an extensive
background in the food and beverage industry, with ownership roles in Thackeray’s,
The Henry House, Applause, The Up Here Bar, Ginger’s Tavern and The
Seahorse Tavern.
Kevin graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1971 and relocated to Halifax. He journeyed to England to study the brewing business and began brewing beer in Halifax in 1984. His English ales and Irish stout have gained international recognition as well as numerous awards. His brewing success has enabled him to expand his production to the Windsor area and he plans to move to the area.
Kevin is committed to helping the community and has served as president of the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia, The Linda Joy Media Arts Society, and on the Board of Directors for Armbrae Academy in Halifax.
Terry Hines, the current president and owner of Hawboldts Home Furniture of Windsor was born in Windsor in 1964. He graduated from Windsor Regional High School and attended Dalhousie University and Kings College in Halifax, graduating in 1985 with a major in economics. Terry became employed at Hawboldts in 1982 and took over ownership in 2000.
Terry is the owner and president of Hants Electric Ltd., a small successful commercial electric company. He was formally a councilor for the Town of Windsor and a founding member and ten-year president of the Windsor Hockey Heritage Society.
Terry is a dedicated community member serving on numerous boards and associations such as the minor hockey association, baseball association, department of recreation, the local golf and country club, family and children’s services and the Board of Health.
Terry is proud of his hometown of Windsor and invests a great deal of time and money into the community.
